Pray, Vote, Rest

PRAY             VOTE           REST

With these three words, our pastor, on Sunday, gave his wise council, as a shepherd to his sheep, concerning tomorrow’s election.  Then, he reminded us all that on Wednesday morning–whatever happened–God would still be on the throne!  With all of the advice, admonition, and arguments this past many months for this election, I found this simple exhortation to be the best I have heard!  (Thank you, Pastor Ray!)

PRAY

With the candidates that we have been given in this election, I have been praying much more for this election than for any other.  I have heard other believers say the same thing.  This is good!  Christians are commanded to pray for their leaders in government.  Bible hub lists dozens of verses HERE that relate to praying for governments.

On Wednesday morning, I hope that we all continue in prayer for whomever our new leaders have been determined to be.

VOTE

After prayerful consideration, vote your conscience before the Lord.  Christian friends, family, and leaders all have their own input as to what is the “correct” way to vote in this election.  However, your ultimate voting choice should be decided in prayer between you and God.

I Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore you eat, or drink, … or VOTE… or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God.

(NOTE:  I added the “or VOTE” — you won’t find that in your version of God’s word! )

REST

I recently posted the article “The Peace of God in Anxious Times“, because I find many believers seem to be stressed and worried over this election.  Remember– Our God is Sovereign.  He is King of Kings!  On Wednesday morning, He will still be on the throne, guiding the course of this world.  This truth should provide great comfort and rest for God’s children.

So,  PRAY–VOTE–REST, and then on Wednesday… PRAY and REST some more.

And may God Bless America!

With Joy,

Kathleen

  1. I appreciate your pastor’s counsel Kathleen.

Yes, we care who’s elected, and we have a responsibility to vote. But we also know who rules from heaven, and the president of this nation or any other doesn’t threaten that.

  2. Absolutely. And, we need to continue to look to the King of Kings, and trust in him, no matter the outcome. Thanks!
